Acupuncture is based on the understanding that a series of meridians or channels flow through the body, connecting internal organs with locations on the body’s surface. These channels are similar to rivers and streams that link distant locations. Qi circulates through the body’s meridians, just as water flows within the banks of a river, and its movement within the channels is directly connected to your overall health and wellness.

While qi is often translated as energy, its meaning is actually far more comprehensive. Qi includes nearly everything that circulates in your body to ensure healthy functioning— from nerve impulses, blood and lymph, to the immaterial spirit that underlies all life. By stimulating acupuncture points with needles, the qi in your body can be directed to ensure that organs are functioning properly, disease cannot invade, emotions are balanced, and you are able to enjoy wellness of body, mind, spirit.
